Job Description:

The Plant Controller functions as the leading finance and accounting professional in the plant and is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of results and maintenance and protection of the company’s assets through balance sheet integrity and ensuring a strong control environment.  The Plant Controller also serves as the business partner to the Plant Manager and business unit focusing on providing financial support and leadership to the plant, namely budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting and for driving results and optimal decision making.    

Responsibilities:

Maintaining a strong control environment and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and company policy. 

  • Managing a complete and thorough month-end and quarterly close process
  • Ensuring full compliance and improvement to site internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (Key Controls) requirements
  • Coordinate and schedule year end plant physical inventory for external warehouse and oversee and support cycle counting
  • Maintain inventory control procedures and assist in their development
  • Oversee preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of specific accounts to assist
  • Maintain and control fixed asset sub-ledger and monitor and review fixed asset expenditures, CIP reviews and fixed asset audits
  • Proactively identifying business or accounting risks and implementing countermeasures where appropriate
  • Support site Internal Audits assuring minimal findings and timely closure of countermeasure actions
  • Being a strong example of integrity and ‘Doing the Right Thing’

Function as a strong business partner with the Plant Manager and operations team to provide reporting and transparency that drive to actionable results.

  • Preparing and managing actual, forecast, and budget scenarios throughout the course of the year
  • Analyzing and interpreting plant performance, evaluating variances and assessing the effects on plant results
  • Providing scenario modeling and ad hoc analysis in a business case format to help drive decisions
  • Leading and/or participating in presentations to plant employees, plant management and to BU and corporate
  • Identify, lead and/or support cost reduction initiatives working cross functionally with other areas to drive cost reductions.

Manages others by providing ongoing development, mentoring, and strong learning experiences by:

  • Providing effective leadership to staff, direct reports, and others
  • Providing continuous coaching & feedback to drive team’s personal and professional development
  • Manage and prioritization of work and assignments
  • Working effectively in a matrix environment and liaison with BU and corporate finance and controllership
  • Partners and supports processes supported within GSS where applicable, leans in and takes ownership    

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or MBA a plus
  • SAP and HFM experience a plus
  • 5-7 Years Finance/Controllership experience on Manufacturing sites
  • USGAAP, BRGAAP, SOX & Manufacturing Cost experienced
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications and possess strong background with information technology
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese Languages
